Coming to the United States and working as a professional nurse is a BIG STEP!

For the most successful experience, you will need to align yourself with a respected organization that understands the American healthcare community and who will help you adjust to your new surroundings with ease and efficiency.

Nurses from many countries are traveling to the United States to help address the current nursing shortage. Your skills are in great demand and Lloyd will put your clinical knowledge to good use at our client hospitals, who are among the premier healthcare facilities in the nation.

Lloyd Healthcare International is the preferred resource for hundreds of nurses from around the world who have found satisfactory employment in the United States through Lloyd. They have come to rely on our expertise and methods for making the transition to the U.S. both comfortable and enjoyable.

Each candidate accepted into our Program will be interviewed by our Recruitment professionals. Your resume (C.V.) and education will be evaluated. We select associates based on recent, relevant work experience, language fluency and professional experience and demeanor. Chosen associates will be entitled to "Green Card" sponsorship for U.S. employment by Lloyd Healthcare International.

Typically, our nurses work a contract of 24 months at a designated U.S. hospital. At the end of the assignment, they may convert to a full time employee of the hospital.

Here is what you can expect at each stage of this process:

Before You Arrive
Good preparation is essential to employment. Lloyd will help you be ready with all the appropriate documents and proof of credentials. Lloyd will handle all of the following:

  • Preparation courses for CGFNS and/or NCLEX exams
  • Training in U.S. practice models
  • Application for all required documentation-for U.S. licensing and I-140 (Green Card) requirements
  • Cultural assimilation

Once You Are Here
We will be with you as you begin your new life. In addition to pre-employment orientation, you will receive support in all of the following areas:

  • Housing subsidy during your first 3 months in the U.S.
  • Documentation & Money Management (banking, credit, Social Security)
  • Home Management (daily utilities, equipment buying/leasing)
  • Transportation (public transportation access, obtaining a driving license or lessons, purchase of lease of an automobile)
  • Neighborhood Orientation (shopping, houses of worship, library, recreation)
  • Education (continuing education coursework)
  • Social Organizations (Expatriate clubs, ethnic dining, cultural activities)
  • Healthcare (location of a primary healthcare provider, dentist, emergency services)
  • Language Fluency (as needed)

At Work
The client hospitals Lloyd chooses as our healthcare partners have made a firm commitment to assist our foreign nurses fit compatibly into their work environments. This is done with a 6 to 12 week orientation and regularly scheduled clinical evaluations to update a nurse on his or her progress and performance. In addition, you will have the opportunity to participate in all of the following:
